The Final April Snow—I Hope

It is still gloomy, and it has started to snow again. None of the snow we have had this week has stuck to anything more than lawn for a few hours.

They Look Tender, but They Are Not

I drove through a teeny, tiny snow squall on the way home last [Monday] night, but nothing was sticking. It was sticking by morning, but perennials that come up this early can stand a little snow.

Even the hostas are beginning to peek, snow or no snow.

Early Bulbs, Running Late

The rabbits are famished, and they have revealed that dwarf irises have really interesting leaf cross sections. Unfortunately, they have mowed so effectively that there will be few or no dwarf irises this year.

The hyacinths don’t seem to mind a little snow, either.

It will be interesting to see how much this unseasonable weather slows things down.
